Behind the Terrace curtain
When tortuous analogies go bad
Westmonster hears that the Govester's speech on how Brown is a bally rotter has produced an unexpected backlash.
In an apparently innocuous if hi-LAR-ious aside, Gove said of the Gord's succession:
Whether it's been Neville Chamberlain after Baldwin, Eden after Churchill or Bush senior after Reagan, the successor model has never quite recaptured the excitement of the first. They have been Roger Moores cast to replace the original Sean Connery - with the best will in the world the same quality isn't there.
Unfortunately for Gove, there is apparently a secret society called Roger Moore Am The Best James Bond EVAH or something, who have taken a very dim view of their hero being compared to the Gord and are submitting poor old Michael to a serious ear-bashing.
The Tories just can't seem to get it right at the moment. In the last week they've offended one legged Lithuanian dancers and the Roger Moore fanclub. Who's next, we wonder?
Let's hope for the sake of interweb peace they remain in ignorance of the "Klingon as a spoken word" chatroom.
