Wendy Alexander fingered

Wendy Alexander 301107.jpgThe Telegraph is reporting that they have proof that Wendy Alexander, the leader of the Scottish Labour Party, was more than aware of the illegal donation from Paul Green in spite of her protestations that she only found out about the personal contribution to her campaign yesterday. Green, a tax exile, is not allowed to make donations to British political parties:

But today Mr Green issued a statement stating that far from not knowing about his donation, Ms Alexander had written a personal letter to him last month thanking him for the £950 he had donated to her leadership campaign fund.

Guido's even got hold of a copy of Ms Alexander's thank you letter.

Incidentally, has Lord Ashcroft remembered which country he's resident in? We only ask because his recent keeness to host (and provide travel for) various Tory politicians at the Rugby World Cup would be, like, TOTALLY embarrassing if he wasn't a proper UK resident.

And given the hot air and outrage coming from Davy Cameron over Labour's recent bumblings in this regard (and combined with the rumours that it's the Lord Vader himself who's controlling the flow of information on Donorgate), it would look a tad, well, hypocritical.

Innit?
