Ministry for Administrative Affairs

The marathon continues

Is it just us, or has this been the longest Parliamentary year ever? The only thing keeping the Westmonster team going is regular injections of gin straight into the eyeball. Anyway, here we go again:

Oral PQs

  • Monday - Home Office
  • Tuesday - Communities and Local Government
  • Wednesday - Scotland; Prime Minister
  • Thursday - Treasury; Business Statement

On (Select) Committee (abbreviated)

  • Tuesday: Home Affairs Select Committee has an oral evidence session with Home Office Minister Liam Byrne on the immigration issues caused by Romania and Bulgaria's accession to the EU.
  • Wednesday: Foreign Affairs Committee on the threat posed by Iran.
  • Thursday: Public Administration Committee on lobbying, with Steve Pound MP giving evidence. The subject matter combined with the appearance of the Member of Parliament for Ealing North should make interesting watching.

Important stuff

Opposition Day debate on Wednesday is on prisons and DEFRA. Heh, let's see: the strikes of the POA over the summer, FMD, bluetongue, and now bird flu ... ruh roh.

Might be of interest

  • A debate is to be held on Thursday about Government consultation on protecting victims and convicting rapists. What's notable about this is it's usually the other way round, see?
  • Second Reading of the Housing and Regeneration Bill: always fun to watch our elected representatives explain to each other that whilst there definitely needs to be loads more houses, none of them should be built in or near the posher parts of their own constituencies.
