Jetsetting Tories: "Oops I Did It Again"

flying lion 091107.jpgFor those of you who have more interesting, wait, check that - for those of you who have lives and don't spend your Saturdays rifling through TheyWorkForYou, intriguing news reaches us via their most recent upload of the Register of Members' Interests, released this week.

From Cameron's entry:

20 October 2007, I attended the final of the Rugby World Cup at the Stade de France in Paris as a guest of the Rugby Football Union, accompanied by my wife, as guests of Lord Ashcroft, who provided transport from Paris to Stansted for our return journey only. (Registered 29 October 2007)

Whaddya know? Lord Ashcroft providing a flight.

Whilst Davy's a little bit coy as to what sort of flight was provided, Basher Davis goes for total disclosure:

20 October 2007,I attended the final of the Rugby World Cup in Paris as a guest of Lord Ashcroft, who also provided transport from Paris to Stansted in a private plane. (Registered 25 October 2007)

Oooh, a private plane? Seems so, according to Patrick McLoughlin's entry:

20 October 2007, I attended the final of the Rugby World Cup in Paris as a guest of Lord Ashcroft, who also provided transport from Paris to Stansted in a private plane. (Registered 29 October 2007)

Andrew Mitchell:

20 October 2007, I attended the final of the Rugby World Cup in Paris as a guest of Lord Ashcroft, who also provided transport from Stansted to Paris and return in a private plane. I was accompanied by my wife. (Registered 25 October 2007)

Andrew Mitchell has previously accepted a number of flights off a company formerly owned by Lord Ashcroft called Flying Lion - remember them? As has David Cameron, come to that.

But in today's Guardian, it appears that the Dark Lord is unwilling to clarify issues relating to his domicility (via Tom Watson) so ... is it within DA ROOLS for a hypothetical non-dom to provide gifts to politicians and what was the commercial cost of tickets to a rugby world cup final and a return journey in a private jet?

The consensus here at Westmonster is "f*cking loads." Anyone up for calculating the carbon footprint?
