When Pundits Get The Arse IX

Adam_Boulton.jpgBONG! Anyone else enjoying the sight of Adam Boulton stamping his feet, sulking, and refusing to come down for his tea over the fact that the Beeb got the exclusive interview with Brown? He's flounced around all day without losing steam. Aw bless, he'll sleep well tonight!

BONG! Much harrumphing in the right-wing blogosphere over Andrew Marr's supposedly "soft" grilling of the Broon. A "self-declamatory love-in" rages Guido, immediately setting off the Pacemakers of his readership. "Just expect the BBC to be partisan and spin everything Labour's way," notes one commentator darkly, amid the usual accusations that the Beeb is the last outpost of the Labour movement in White City, demands that it is privatised forthwith, references to various people being gay, and comparisons between, er, ladybits and Mr Marr that are surprisingly gynaecological.

BONG! As the impartiality of the meedja is clearly of deep concern to the right-wing, Westmonster was astonished to read via Chris Paul about Iain Dale's delight at a comment made by, er, a leading political journalist on our beloved Prime Minister. Curiously, Dale's post - not how Westmonster remembers it in its orginal incarnation - didn't seem to elicit quite the same response amongst his readers and on Guido as the so-called "biased love-in" between Marr and Brown. Who'd have thought, eh?

BONG! Analysis of Sunday's polling from the UK Polling report. Interestingly, the Tory tax plans are greeted with a certain scepticism by some punters.

BONG! Daniel Finkelstein reckons Brown ain't no bottler.

BONG! John McDonnell, one time contender for the office of Glorious Leader, is like "he is too!"

BONG! Those winning Conservative policies in full.

BONG! Ming Campbell is usually forgotten in any kind of political drama, and this weekend was no exception. However, as Fair Deal Phil notes, with an election not likely for at least eighteen months the "Get Ming" brigade have the opportunity they need to mobilise against the old king. The men behind the arras? Chris Huhne and Nick Clegg are still the only most likely pretenders to the throne.
