My Parliamentary Representation Don't Cost A Thing (not)
Quick! Somebody get David Cameron a flat cap, a couple of whippets and a Tony Benn-style pipe because he's talking about curbing MPs expenses, and if the taxpayer were to stop funding his party's shenanigans then he may well be reduced to this indignity.
In an article for the Telegraph, Davy laments of the new Communications allowance:
What do MPs do? They communicate, they don't need another sum of money.
Nice one David! And you would be spot on but unfortunately most MPs aren't able to "communicate" using the £622,223 allowance the Opposition Leader's office gets from the Short funds, nor make use of the extremely generous (and separate) £3,816,074 Short money settlement on your party totalling a whopping £4,534,000 of projected state funding for 2007/08.
How many St Philip of Hollobones could we afford for that? Just a thought.
