Ministry for Administrative Affairs
Quick! Before anybody sees
Not much going on this week folks: the House is prorogued on Tuesday, after which everyone empties out until the Queen's Speech on 6th November. Full agenda here, and highlights (such as they are) below:
Oral PQs
- Monday: Culture, Media, and Sport; Olympics; Church Commissioners; Public Accounts Commission; Speaker's Committee on the Electoral Commission.
- Tuesday: Health
Important stuff
- Making sure all the legislation gets through before prorogation is the priority this week - any Bills that don't contain a carry-over motion automatically fall so we could be looking at a couple of late ones in terms of voting on Monday and Tuesday whilst the Commons considers amendments from the Lords. It's not necessarily going to be bad, though. At least Westmonster hopes not - she still remembers the Great Weekend Sitting of 2004 when the House and it's Members resembled a scene from Shaun of the Dead by Saturday afternoon .
- Prorogation on Tuesday: worth watching for the collection of blokes with big silver sticks chanting in Norman French. Great stuff.
May be of interest
- An adjournment debate on Burma is to be held on Monday.
- No PMQs this week, presumably to the relief of the Gord.
