Letwin: I see dead people

In an interview conducted with the Independent yesterday Letwin was asked, inter alia, whether the Tory Party had underestimated Gordon Brown. His response:

No. As a matter of fact, we had a presentation before he took over, which predicted he would do just about everything he has done.

Bleedin' heck! That must have been one chuff of a presentation: it predicted the Northern Rock crisis, the return of Foot and Mouth, the terror attacks in late June, and the consequent Brown bounce.

The question is: if this piece of software at CCHQ does have the power of second sight, why did the Tories look so woefully baffled through the duration of each of them?
