Don't Look Ethel!

Vox popped at the Beeb

BBC Logo - use this one! With speculation about the election reaching fever pitch, blogs predicting astonishing outcomes, and opinion divided as to whether a snap poll would be a good thing, Westmonster decided to Listen To The People and What They Think of Gordon Brown.

And given that we're not going to do any actual, you know, talking to people, where better to take the pulse of the nation than on the BBC Have Your Say site? First up is pjajennings with this:

Whenever a politician says "I will not let you down" you can see his lips moving. Take to the hills!!

Postmodernism at its finest: you have to listen to the punchlines he doesn't say.

Next up is T loves u:

At least he is not Tony Blair!!! Politicians lie all the time so I don't expect him to do any of the things he says he going to do. Multi Nationals run the economy so I don't believe poverty will be eradicated any time soon. In short, I don't think much of Gordon Brown - But he is not Tony Blair so I can happily 'vote' labour at the next election - if i can be bothered to take part in the farce/charade that is the general election!!

Yup. No point in voting because corporations run the country, but he'll vote Brown because he isn't Blair (who was presumably similarly powerless in the face of the, er, Multi Nationals), if he can be bothered to turn up. Which he probably won't because it won't change anything. Er...? Nikki:

In a nutshell: if you want more stealth tax, massaged nhs figures, a continued breakdown of law and order, bleeding heart excuses for criminals, an uncontrolled deluge of immigrants, more Wintervals and less Christmas, a powerful lobby of religious extremists demanding and an anxious govt providing, extra EU dictats, castrated police forces, spin, lies, greed - vote for Gordy, he will provide your Utopia!

Whaaat? No mention of paedos, asylum seekers extracting the organs of pensioners so they can sell them on the interwebs, and free BMWs for single mothers? Where's Normo Tebbs when you need him? Oh yes. Voting Labour.
