Ministry for Madness
Sanity down the toilet
The democratisation of the media has had many positive benefits. No longer must we hear balanced opinion from experts and be forced to listen to opinions we don't agree with. No sirree, in the bright new dawn of the twenty-first century, where t'interweb is king, any bloke with a blog can upload their ill-thought out musings, pictures of celebs showing their pants, and the kind of drivel that usually gets you reaching for a stiff drink and the blood pressure tablets if you have the misfortune to overhear it in a pub. They can even slap some user-voting stuff on it and call its News 2.0.
Not unlike this site, come to think of it, although if any readers were to damn us with faint praise, it might be to concede that Westmonster is not as bad as this.
Faeces.com is a website that has a hi-LAR-ious banner headline featuring an image of Gordon Brown forcing a British bulldog down the toilet - although one suspects this isn't a straightforward gag about the irony of the Dangerous Dogs Act being passed by the Tories.
It's difficult to know where to start content-wise, but the screaming misogyny seems a good place. Referring to a Chief Constable of police as "dear" because she happens to be in the possession of ladybits is not something, Westmonster suggests, the author of the piece would attempt on the rare occasions he ventures out of the house he still shares with his mum. Or cracking Jimmy Carr-style "fat bird" gags. Sublime. Still, Faeces does manage to get exercised over a a man urinating over the dying body of a woman so he could put it up on YouTube, so presumably the site doesn't think it's a bad thing to be a woman. As long as you're dead.
Then there's the inevitable suspicion of "diffrunt people." Some Poles claim benefit twice, apparently, unlike indigenous Brits (have they never seen an Alan Bleasdale drama?). Children with parents of mixed race? Ohmigod, nurse! The screens!
Even more hilarious are the comments. For example, under the Poles-benefit story is the following:
any perpitrators should be instantly deported. There obviously not here for the good of the country.
Come to think of it, maybe this spittle-flecked rant about falling standards amongst young people might have some truth to it?
