Points, In Order

Photoshopping, gents' mags and John Bercow

photoshop.jpg BONG! In the unlikely event that Westmonster ever gets invited to a photoshoot, the words "PhotoShop me up, baby" will be very much in evidence. Poor James Purnell MP, however has learnt the bitter lesson that such technological wizardry should be left to the professionals.

BONG! Shrumgate, in all its tedium, rumbles on. The point was made to Westmonster by one of our American cousins that the most perplexing thing about the affair was the fact that Gord had apparently chosen to emulate Bob Shrum - the man behind campaigns for, um, Gore and, er, Kerry.

BONG! A high-level Friday discussion was held this afternoon in Portcullis House, debating the following question: why is the Westminster WH Smith's better stocked with...er..."gentlemen's" magazines than it is with copies of the New Statesman? Shurely it ain't down to the free market?

BONG! Speaking of Portcullis House, the Atrium cafe has been bedecked with Union Jack flags all day. Have our brothers and sisters in the Refreshment Department been affected by the recent British stylings of the Broon?

BONG! John Bercow is reselected as the Conservatives' candidate for Buckingham. The loyal readers of ConservativeHome cannot be said to be overly impressed at the news.

It's far worse than just Kerry and Gore. Bob Schrum wrecked havoc on the Democratic party through his mis-guided work for Walter Mondale, Mike Dukakis and Gary Hart. This guy is the typhoid mary of american politics.
