Points, In Order

Hitting the (Northern) rocks

BONG! The King was summoned from his counting house to address the Commons Treasury Select Committee this morning; mebbe it was the fact that his job is up for renewal that ensured that his forceful presentation managed to just about convince TreasComm that he was a good egg. Not so his deputy, whose excuse that his goldfish ate his briefing was received with a distinctly fishlike eye by the committee. Heads might yet roll, people.

BONG! Meanwhile, the hated "queen" of politics was eating bread and honey according to the usual suspects. Cherie Blair's announced no-holds-barred biography has elicited the standard response from the right wing: why can't she just be silent and fruity like that eminently suitable Mrs Cameron?

BONG! When Democracy Goes Bad IV: a cat has caused heads to roll at the Beeb. Westmonster is sure that Cherie Blair is behind it. After all, witches have cats innit? QED.

BONG! Rumours continue apace about the possibility of an autumn election (please, for the love of God, no!).

BONG! An alternative view on the Northern Rock fiasco from the always tremendous Idiots4Labour. Where was Gord when Farepak went under, or are Labour only up for bailing out the relatively posh?

BONG! Ming said some stuff about a quiet man turning up the volume how he will not be silenced. Like, whatever.
