Dreams down the toilet

Gossip of a Scottish nature has just reached Westmonster's ears.

Apparently a lot of Scottish grandees were distressed at the amount of time it took to appoint Wendy Alexander's opposition team when she became leader. They waited by their phones in increasing irritation and then phoned each other for news and discovered that everybody was being kept waiting.

Why? Because one of her eighteen-month-old twins had flushed the leader's mobile down the loo.

There's a metaphor here, somewhere, for Scottish Labour struggling to get out.
